New Work Digs – a bit of a distraction?

After spending the last five years working from home, I decided it was time to mix things up and look for a new environment to work from. Ok that is not totally true… if I am to be 100% honest here, my main motivations to work away from home were: + I was starting to feel a bit trapped within the walls of my house + I was needing a clearly defined separation between my work, study and home life + The days would roll by, weekends would come and go, and I started to feel like I was  ...

Retro Delights Pop-up in the Burbs!

Last week I purchased a teak coffee table from e-Bay and when I went to collect it I had no idea the treasure I was about to discover in the burbs … I arrived at a cute 1950s dwelling in Everard Park, and as I was walking across the front lawn I realised that the home was being used as a so called “pop-up shop” – a place for pick-ups of retro bits and bobs being sold via Gumtree and eBay. I was greeted by a lovely lady called Heather, who proudly showed me around her  ...

Inspired by “Frankie”

Combining my love of all things retro, with interior styling totally equates to the ultimate job for me! This week I had the pleasure of working with Jane, the owner of “Three Card Trick”, a cute retro store located in Colonel Light Gardens, Adelaide.  We had an awesome day starting at 9am and finishing up around 7pm. Although, I got home at 9.30pm because I didn’t want to leave – Such a cool space to hang out in! The shop was in a little bit of a chaotic state,  ...

Sweaters for shivering teapots!

Tucked down a little side lane off Hindley Street you will find the sweetest gallery, tea house come magazine specialty store called Magazine Gallery! I’d heard so much about this place through my tea blender friend Cherie (from Scullery Made Tea), so when I saw the exhibition “Folk Art Fanfare” pop up in my new feed on Facebook, I was already there! The exhibition was to feature the crafty skills of Adelaide’s Yarn Bombers and their take on the modern tea cosy. I  ...

My Modern Nest

It’s new, it’s retro modern and I love it. My Modern Nest is a sparkly new shop that recently opened its doors in Port Adelaide. (Actually the official opening was on Sunday, and first day of trade yesterday.) I have been crazy flat out this week so missed the opening, but a quick visit today was the perfect way to temporarily escape the Messagemark madness.  Light and Bright Shop Space – just what we like! Just some lovely details in the shop. I want that paper  ...

Rockefeller Crush!

This week I discovered a new cafe called Rockefeller Cafe + Kitchen that recently opened in my neighbourhood. To my delight it is full of the most amazing collection of 1950s kitchen tables and chairs. So today I thought I would go down and test out my new camera, and as predicted absolutely no shortage of cool photo opportunities! As a “welcome to the neighbourhood gift” I gave the owners Georgia and Maria a set of my Good Health retro posters, so we may see some Retro Delights  ...
